Darrell
Hahn
Jan 24, 1938 — Mar 10, 2020
Darrell Wayne Hahn was born to Teresa (Bennett) Hahn and Virgil Hahn on January 24, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri. He passed away March 10, 2020 in Lowry City, Missouri.
He was the youngest of three children. Darrell's older siblings were Doris and Don. They lived in Kansas City until around 1943, when they bought a farm in Brookfield, Missouri. He grew up working on the farm and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Darrell had a dog and a horse that he loved. He rode Smokey to church and every year he rode him in the Brookfield parade. When Smokey died from sleeping sickness, he spent day and night with him in the barn. Darrel was very compassionate with animals and people.
When he was in high school he ran track (He set a record that lasted for 20 years), he also played football and was the captain of the team.
After Darrell graduated from high school he served his country in the United States Army where he worked in communications. In 1961 he got married and this union was blessed with three daughters. He was called to serve in Massachusetts during the Cuban Missile Crisis where his first daughter was born. They moved back to Kansas City where two more daughters were born. He once said his proudest accomplishment was raising three daughters. It was very evident that he was proud to be a Dad. He was there anytime his family needed him. He was also proud of owning and operating his own company for 24 years.
He was a master craftsman when it came to wood working. He made the family kitchen table and several lamps, candle sticks, plant stands and jewelry boxes in his work shop.
Darrel married Nona Powell on September 16, 1989. They lived in Raytown until 1996 when they bought a farm in Lowry City. It was a wonderful place for family gatherings and grandkids to visit and ride four wheelers. He always loved to hunt and fish and when he no longer could, he had a chair by the window where he loved watching the birds eat from the feeder and the squirrels chase each other up and down the trees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Teresa and Virgil Hahn; brother Donald and step-daughter Rhonda.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Nona Hahn; daughters, Amy and husband Mike, Sara and husband Duane and Laura Beth; grandchildren, Tyler, Brianna and husband Tim, Jaren, Bradley, Ryan, Ella, Daniel and Lola Kay.
