Ellen Best was born December 29, 1934, at the family home near Collins, Missouri, to Frankie Davis and Jennie (Mott) Davis. She passed away October 11, 2026 at the Lake Stockton Nursing Home.

She married Omer Paul Best February 9, 1952. After Omer returned home from the Army, they made their home near Collins. They were blessed with three children, Omer David, Jeanne and Donnie. On their farm Ellen helped with the milking of their dairy cows and other farm work. She later started working at the St. Clair County Library. She drove the Bookmobile for many years before retiring. She made many cross stitch quilts that were beautiful and treasured by family. The amount of time she spent doing her quilts is immeasurable.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Frankie and Jennie, and her loving husband, Omer.

She is survived by her son David and daughter-in-law Margie, daughter Jeanne, and son Donnie and wife Jackie. She is also survived by her devoted grandson John Zerr and wife Lynn, as well as Jacob Best and Sydney Best. Great granddaughter, Pyper Best and great grandson, Noah Best. Sister Alice Chapman and sister in law Evelyn Best and nieces and nephews.

She had a long battle with Alzheimer’s after Omer passed away in 2010.

She will be missed by all who knew her.
