Eunice I
Hafer
May 24, 1928 — Mar 4, 2020
Eunice Irene Wynn was born to Harry and Lillian Wynn on May 24, 1928. She was the 11th of 12 children. She began her schooling in Minnyville, MO before moving to Kansas City, MO. One of her first jobs was working as a nurse aide at a hospital where she would send some of the money she earned home to her parents. Later in life Eunice also worked as an in home caregiver.
Eunice met her husband Homer "Pete" Hafer through correspondence. Pete would come to Missouri to see Eunice and she would travel to Nebraska to see him. On one trip, one of Eunice's relatives made the comment "she is going to come back with a ring." Pete and Eunice were married on October 19, 1948 in the doorway of Eunice's parents bedroom so that her father could see them get married from his bed that he couldn't' get out of due to having cancer.
Eunice and Pete had seven children. They first settled in Hastings, NE. They then moved to Los Alamos, NM, then Stockham, NE and finally in 1977 they moved to Weaubleau, MO. Eunice was always a caregiver. She cared for her husband, seven children, grandchildren, worked in the home gardening and canning. She also worked outside the home as a caregiver and companion. Eunice was active in church and her faith in the Lord was strong. She passed this onto her children and grandchildren.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, all of her brothers and sisters, her husband Pete Hafer and daughter Judy Rauert.
