On Monday, December 23, 2019, Vera Hargis was carried away in the arms of Jesus at the age of 77.

Vera Frances Hargis was born at Ellet Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri on March 2, 1942. She was the daughter of David Edward Jones and Pauline Lawson Jones. Vera spent her childhood in the Lowry City & Iconium area. She attended Lowry City High School and made friends with nearly everyone that she met. Vera graduated high school in May of 1960, then married Gene Hargis on June 24, 1961. To this union two children were born. David Randall "Randy" on June 24, 1966 and Stephanie Lynette on April 19, 1970.

Vera spent a short time traveling and lived in Denver, Colorado and Glasgow, Montana while Gene was in the Air Force. Before returning to Lowry City, they lived in Kearney, Missouri.

In 1971, Vera, Gene, and their children Randy and Stephanie returned to Lowry City where they built their home and resided until her health declined in early 2019. Vera was blessed to have amazing caregivers by her side from Westwood Living Center and Hospice Compassus during her final year on earth.

Vera was dedicated in all that she did, especially when it came to her work. She held 2 long term positions where she developed and kept relationships with many of her coworkers. She worked at Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola as a Purchasing agent for 25 years until her retirement in 2004. Vera also worked in the fabric department at Walmart in Clinton, Mo for 9 years.

Vera was extremely talented, creative, and many people can remember her for her beautiful penmanship. She loved to sew, play piano, and spend time with her family. She had an uncountable amount of good qualities. Her faith and acceptance of Jesus Christ as her savior and lord was first and foremost.  Vera taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church of Lowry City where she was a dedicated member up until her health declined.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. Vera was a true example of a Christian woman, servant of god, and life well lived.

Vera now joins her Father, mother, and many other aunts, uncles, and friends in heaven.
